General Chronology of Winyah Plant Construction
September 2001, Initial site preparation begins
October 2001, Equipment slab in place, Fluidized Bed Combustor (FBC) being erected in the right foreground. Circular area at left rear is the foundation for the 16,000 ton ash product storage dome.
November 2001, FBC erection completed. FBC tower steel topped out. Dome inflated, equipment setting begun.
December 2001, 16,000 ton storage dome takes shape. Feed silos installed. Gas product cooler installation begins.
January 2002, Bag-house, feed and re-cycle silo installed. Shipping silo topped out. Ductwork pre-fabricated and ready for installation.
February 2002, Electrical and piping installation underway, FBC refractory installed, load-out silo painted, control room framed, ductwork installation continues.
March 2002, Electrical and piping installation continues. Ductwork and load-out silo scales installation continues.
April 2002, Ductwork installed, electrical and control system installation continue.
May 2002, Electrical and control system installation continue. Ductwork installation nears completion.
June 2002, Control system check-out begins, truck load out finishing and storage dome near completion.
July 2002, Electrical and control system check-out continues.
August 2002, Operationally Ready
